I want it!
I want it! I really want it as my next second car. Exactly what I've been looking for. Small, sporty, strong engine for its size and it runs 510 km without filling it up.
There are other small CNG cars available already today, however probably not as fun to drive as this concept car.
I'm thinking of the Citroen C3 CNG and the Fiat Punto BioPower, then there are some more Fiat CNG models but they are not officially sold here in Sweden.
I've heard plans of a coming turbo charged CNG version from Opel, does anyone know anything more about that one? Or about the plans for the Mercedes B-class CNG and possible C-class CNG?
What is the definition of "Monovalent" or "Monovalent-Plus"?? I assume it is something connected with a small sized petrol tank in a CNG car, but how small and why - I mean are there any tax benefits or so??

hey s-klasse,
the turbo charged Opel-CNG does already exist.
It´s called Opel Meriva 1,4 TNG.
I saw the Meriva on a CNG-Drivers-Meeting last year.
Unfortunately I took only two pictures
We also heared some rumors that Mercedes is planning a B-class CNG.
But we don´t know any concrete dates.
so long

About the TNG, also see this thread:

Monovalent Plus is Opel's way of saying that the engine is optimized för CNG, but also has a small tank for gasoline.

Aha, so it's the same car then!
This was the first time I've heard that this new Opel CNG engine has been released. I usually look at : http://www.erdgasfahrzeuge.de/appFrameset.html for news about the German market and I have not yet seen any update about this model. Do you have any better source to look at??Friesen Cruiser wrote: the turbo charged Opel-CNG does already exist.

How come that both Opel and VW seems to focus on small MPV;s like the Zafira, Touran e.t.c. and not models like the Astra or Golf? Do they focus on the taxi-market?
Not the same car, but probably the same technology. I was talking about the Zafira 1,6 TNG. But Opel (or rather OSV) is, as I've understood it, planning on releasing TNG vehicles on the market fall 2008.
There are two links on the page that I linked to, one of them was is a Powerpoint presentation that OSV held for Gasföreningen (association for gas deliverers(sp?)) late last year.

Hi s-klasse,
maybe not a better source, but two other
http://www.gas24.de
http://www.gibgas.de
They normally have some very good and new informations.
Yep, maybe they do focus on the taxi market. There are some very interesting furtherances for taxi companies when buying a CNG car.
But I also think they may need some more space for the gas tanks underneith the cars. That´s why they take these MPVs.
VW is planning to release a Passat TSI EcoFuel. This would be a very interesting alternative to the MPVs

Isn’t it the same Passat that was discussed in this thread
http://www.forumgas.se/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267 ?
In that article they say that VW classifies this car as "future", but the article writer says that they believe it to reach dealers within two years. But, of course, this is only assumption!!
Anyone how knows more?
